My Cars air conditioning only works for a few minutes after you start the car, any advise?

I just purchased a 2000 ford taurus. When I got it the air worked perfectly. after about a week, its performance has been detrating. Any suggestions? Could the dealer just filled up the air conditier and it has a leak? any ideas on how costly it will be to fix?My Cars air conditioning only works for a few minutes after you start the car, any advise?
yes the dealer slapped some r134a in it to sell it. they are notorious for leaking at the quick coupler connections. there should be six of them. you need to have a quick coupler repair kit installed on each one with new o-rings also. its not going to be cheap, about $400 give or take labor charge in your area. this advice is also not considering any major leaks in the system. the quicl couplers allow for ease in assembly at the factory but dont stand up to the test of time. hope this helpsMy Cars air conditioning only works for a few minutes after you start the car, any advise?
could be a leak or a loose belt. check all the plugs make sure nothing is loose. whoever fills it ;if it needs it can check for leaks with there machine they will let ya know if it has a leak for sure. If it does they should be able to let ya know what it is too. Most of the time its the evaporator. You can turn on your air and see if the com presser is clicking on and off too. that's easy also open your hood turn it on and it should click on and off as the motor is running.
you probavly have a leak in the system. depending on which part it is, it could cost hundreds
I believe you were Wacked but don't be a mooch !!! Also did you buy the gap insurance ? U might want to consider setting the car on fire or leaving it in a bad neighborhood I would recommend the one in Schaumburg close to salem and sagamore ! !
Best bet is to charge system with leak dye and use uv light to find the leaks. May be as simple as an o-ring or as expensive as an evaporator core or compressor.
go to a certified A/C person and have them check it out, for 50 bucks they will answer all your questions.
